Where It All Began
“El Chino” Taqueria has its beginnings on June 15, 2006, in MM swap meet, Mr. Jaime Miranda gave the opportunity to Jorge Reyes (El Chino) to collaborate in his Mexican Restaurant as a business partner at where the Restaurant was called “Dos Amigos Restaurant”. Jorge already had the experience of 6 years of working in restaurants in Portland, started as a dishwasher then as cooker till he became the manager.
Jorge Reyes (El Chino) was gaining the trust of the customers and the owner of the swap meet. With the people’s suggestions and his demanding taste and love for the tasty food, he being Nicaraguan precedence knew how to give a different touch to his Mexican Cooking. Trying to keep it simple and with an authentic flavor.

The Name “El Chino”
The same customers were the ones that named the restaurant “El Chino”. Most of the customers at the time were Hispanic and a lot of them built a nice and friendly relationship with Jorge and in several places in Mexico and some in Central America they called in slang “Chinos” to curly hair and Jorge’s hair is so curly so they named him “El Chino”, nowadays the restaurants have gained much prestige serving to all diversity of people that are looking for fine but affordable food.
In 2010 the car food was opened having the wide acceptance of our customers and in 2013 he opened his The First El Chino Taqueria and Seafood in the Cornelius Pass. With the idea of always innovating, the Sinaloa Seafood was added to the menu having remarkable success, in 2015 the second El Chino Taqueria and Seafood was opened located in Hillsboro too!
He is currently looking for the right location to open his third restaurant “El Chino Taqueria and Seafood 3”
What People are Saying
This are real testimonials that you can find in Google.
“A Great Find”
I come here pretty regularly. Most of the time I get various tacos. Always great. Reminds me of the street tacos in Southern California. The type of place that usually has a downgraded health rating, only speak Spanish and is as authentic as I can imagine. Only this place has 5 abuelas in the kitchen with that cook like OGs.
“Fabulous food & flawless service”
Best authentic tacos! I love them because they are a two-minute drive from my work so perfect stop for lunch. Definitely going to be a regular stop for me.
“Another successful experience”
This is authentic Mexican food. 98% of Mexican restaurants serve generic food, a frozen dinner might be better..Very hard to find, I only know of one other place like this in downtown Hillsboro. I had the enchilada plate. All good, will be back!
The food was awesome!! Best Mexican food I’ve had in a very long time! The #29 was delicious…shrimp was perfect!
